After several years with thorough negotiations the owners of Plastretur AS and Norsk Returkartong AS have decided to merge the operative parts of the two companies. The owners hope to gain synergy from the merger, result in more efficent collections and recycling.
Both companies achieved very good results for 2004. Plastretur reached 24% recycling, whilst, Norsk Returkartong collected 46,5% beverage cartons and approximately 70% carton packaging.
Emballasjeretur (Packaging return) is the name of the company that will be responsible for taking over today’s collection- and recycling operations. Plastretur AS and Norsk Returkartong AS will continue to exist as companies, but without employees, just boards. Their task will be to report the recycling results, and to ensure that the company’s commitments towards The Ministry of Environment are being followed.
The organisation of Emballasjeretur is still not decided, but will probably be ready during the second and third quarter. This process will be lead by the new Managing Director, Lisbeth Solgaard, who will start in her new position from 1st May 2005. All employees in the two companies will be offered positions in the new company.
Until further notice, Plastretur and Norsk Returkartong, will continue their activities as today.
