Altstoff Recycling Austria

Altstoff Recycling Austria AG (ARA), founded in 1993 on the initiative of the Austrian economy, is Austria's leading collection and recovery system for packaging.

We offer a full compliance service to all domestic and foreign manufacturers, importers, packers, fillers, wholesalers and retailers of packaging who are subject to the Austrian Packaging Ordinance. To date, ARA is providing its services to more than 15,000 customers.

By entering a compliance and license agreement with ARA and paying the license fees due, these companies can transfer to ARA the obligations they have under the ordinance.

ARA operates on a non-profit basis in the core business, while at the same time observing the principles of sound business, maximum efficiency and cost transparency.

We use the revenues from license fees to organize and finance the collection, sorting and recovery of packaging waste in Austria. Our modern collection and recovery system for all types of packaging is available to consumers and businesses all across the country.

As Austria's leading compliance scheme, we are responsible for the collection, recycling and recovery of more than 800,000 tons of packaging waste each year, thus saving 620,000 tons CO2 equivalents per year.
